Our office remains OPEN as we are an essential healthcare provider

What To Expect

On your first visit to Beach Boulevard Chiropractic, our receptionist will greet you with a warm smile and a hand shake. We will ask you to fill out some brief paperwork to provide us with information about yourself and your condition. Or, click here to view and print your first visit paperwork to save time!

Next, you will have a consultation with Dr. Brian Winkler to talk about your health-related concerns, problems and what type of care would benefit and best suit you.

After your consultation with Dr. Brian Winkler, he will perform a complete chiropractic examination. This will include testing your reflexes, ranges of motion, your ability to turn and bend, as well as other standard orthopedic, neurological, functional, postural, and physical tests. However, nothing will be done in our office without your consent.

If necessary, we may take X-rays as well. This will help us develop the best treatment plan for you and alert us of any serious spinal condition. All x-rays are examined then reviewed and explained to you by Dr. Brian Winkler.

After your health history is collected and examinations are performed, Dr. Brian Winkler will give you a report of his findings as well as his recommendations for the best treatment and wellness program for your needs. He will answer any questions you may have and tell you if your condition requires care with other providers.

At the conclusion of your initial visit, you can choose to start your first treatment. This may include spinal adjustments, physical therapy, and/or massage therapy. Our effective techniques are interactive so you can have a voice in the different styles of treatment anytime.

Prior to leaving our office, Dr. Brian Winkler will suggest a wellness program to incorporate outside of treatment. This may include: ice or heat application instructions, at home exercises and/or stretches and certain activities or positions to avoid. Our team can even work with you to create a customized wellness plan and routines for your lifestyle. The purpose is for you to achieve good spinal alignment, exercise, have a healthy diet, and maintain a positive mental state.

Phase 1: Relief

Most people go to a chiropractor because they are in pain. In this first phase of relief, our main goal at Beach Boulevard Chiropractic is to reduce your symptoms. Depending on the severity and nature of your condition each patient's visit frequency will differ.

Many people think that if they don't feel any pain that there is nothing wrong. Unfortunately, pain is a very poor indicator of health. In fact, it's common for pain and other symptoms to develop after a disease or other condition has become advanced.

For instance, think about a cavity in your tooth. Does it hurt when it first appears or only after it has become serious? And what about heart disease? Whether it's heart disease, cancer, diabetes, stress or problems with the spine, pain is usually the last thing to appear. When you begin chiropractic care, pain is also the first symptom to disappear, even though much of the underlying condition remains.

Phase 2: Corrective Care

Some patients come in for relief of their symptoms, some patients come in for rehabilitation of their spine and some patients choose to come in periodically like going to the dentist or getting their oil changed because they feel so great and they don’t want their pain to come back. Most chiropractors view the elimination of symptoms as the easiest part of a patient's care. If all the chiropractor does is to reduce the pain and stop there, the chances of the condition recurring are much greater.  In order to prevent a fast recurrence of symptoms, it's necessary to continue receiving care for strengthening of a degenerated or injured area even when your symptoms are gone.

During the correction phase of your care, you won't have to receive adjustments as often as you did during the first phase. Depending on your circumstances, you may start doing exercises and stretches either at Beach Boulevard Chiropractic or at home to help accelerate you're healing.

Don't be discouraged if you have mild flare-ups on occasion. This is perfectly normal. Flare-ups are bound to occur during phase 2 because your body has not fully healed. Depending on the severity of your injury or condition and how long you have been suffering, this phase of your care may last anywhere from a few months to a couple of years.

Phase 3: Wellness Care

Once your body has fully healed, maintenance chiropractic care can help ensure that your physical problems don't return, and keep your body in top condition. Just like continuing an exercise program and eating well in order to sustain the benefits , it's necessary to continue chiropractic care to protect the health of your musculoskeletal system.

When you make routine chiropractic care a part of your lifestyle, you avoid many of the aches and pains that so many people suffer from, your joints will last longer and you will be able to engage in more of the activities you enjoy.
